Curriculum

The First Baptist Church Nursery School in Needham believes in a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children three to five years of age, presented in an environment which fosters the individual child’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive skills. Our talented, professional team of early childhood educators create an environment that supports and develops a love of learning, respect, cooperation, leadership, an ability to make choices, pride in individual accomplishments and problem solving skills.

Our goal is to promote learning through the joy of discovery. Children, supported by our staff, are constantly thinking, exploring, experiencing, learning and testing new skills, and creating scaffolding for a lifetime of learning. As children grow and develop in our program, they are both nurtured and challenged as they move towards the greater independence that kindergarten and elementary school brings.

We offer weekly topics, such as the moon, jungle animals, “eggsperiments”, and families, to introduce fresh ideas and concepts that our students are able to build and expand upon. If a topic is particularly exciting we provide the flexibility to to continue exploration beyond a week.

Our curriculum is guided and shaped by our experienced staff of early childhood educators, and the Massachusetts Curriculum Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. WHILE THE CHURCH SPONSORS THE SCHOOL, RELIGION IS NOT A PART OF THE CURRICULUM.
